“It’s an issue for the FIA”: Christian Horner stays out of the discussion on the jewelry ban in F1
Christian Horner
Red Bull Team Boss Christian Horner is a quite outspoken person who can be relied upon to make the best judgements when it comes to several issues that occur in the F1 paddocks. The FIA’s jewelry ban that has been recently established on all the drivers to ensure their safety while racing, has been a topic of much debate lately.
The discussions on the jewelry ban have ranged from the F1 pundits in their podcasts to the motorsport enthusiasts in their forums. And while everyone has got an opinion to share on this matter, when Christian Horner was approached for his thoughts on this topic, the Briton chose to stay silent about it.
The jewelry ban has always been stated in the rules and regulations that are given to the drivers before they take part in a Formula 1 Grand Prix. But these measures were never enforced as stringently as they are being now. As the new Race Directors of the FIA, Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas have stressed upon the need to enforce this rule, and that is why such a controversy has come up on this matter now.

Christian Horner said he has no strong opinion on the FIA jewelry ban
As per the recent reports, the enforcement of the jewelry ban has made life difficult for seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who is often seen wearing several rings and piercings during his races. While Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton had been the chief rival of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, Christian Horner has still said nothing about the jewelry ban even though most fans expected him to take the FIA’s side against Hamilton.
On being asked about his stance in the debate of whether the jewelry ban should stay or not, Christian Horner has said, ”It’s an issue for the FIA. If it’s something they see as a safety-related thing, then it’s very much down to them. I don’t have a strong feeling on it either way. It’s a personal choice. I can imagine if you have something in your mouth and you swallowed and choked on it then it wouldn’t be great but I don’t have a strong position.”
