“It’s between…” Logan Sargeant points out his perfect venue for a fourth F1 race in the US
Formula 1's only American driver, Logan Sargeant, has revealed his preferences for a fourth F1 race held in the US to be either one of two locations.

Next year, the Formula 1 calendar will feature three races set in the United States. Perhaps more importantly, the audience will really be able to get behind a driver – in the form of Logan Sargeant. The 22-year-old is the first American driver in the sport since Alexander Rossi in 2015. The first of these races will be in Miami, which will ‘properly’ be Sargeant’s home race, as he was born in Fort Lauderdale, which is part of Vice City’s metropolitan area.
This will be the first time F1 will have three US races on the calendar since 1982 when the season ended with the Caesars Palace Grand Prix. In 2023, the sport will return to Las Vegas after more than 40 years for the season’s penultimate race. Apart from Miami and Las Vegas, there’s also the United States Grand Prix – held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
For some, three races in the United States is more than enough. For some, particularly for American fans, there’s room for more. Considering how the sport’s popularity continues to boom in the US and other areas outside Europe, the prospect of a fourth US race cannot be ruled out completely. And F1’s only American driver has his own opinion regarding this.

Logan Sargeant: ‘Why not two more?’ US F1 races
The United States Grand Prix has been held in a variety of locations apart from the Circuit of the Americas. Most notably, from 1961 to 1980, it was held at Watkins Glen, and from 2000 to 2007, in Indianapolis. Watkins Glen, in particular, is one of Logan Sargeant’s ‘favorites’. When pitched Laguna Seca and a street circuit in New York (Christian Horner has earlier said he’d like to see a race there) for a fourth possible Grand Prix, he had another idea.
The American driver made it clear that he would prefer Watkins Glen, in New York over Laguna Seca, in California. Speaking to media including RacingNews365.com, he said: “Why not two more? No, I’m kidding! Watkins Glen has always been one of my favorites, so I’d prefer that over Laguna Seca, but you can’t count out a city race in New York either. It’s between Watkins Glen or a street track in New York.” Last May, the mayor of New York had submitted a bid for a Formula 1 race.
However, it was rejected as Randall Island, the proposed location, was deemed ‘not a perfect venue’ in an interview with Autosport by Greg Maffei, the CEO of Liberty Media. He admitted that a race in the Big Apple would be an attractive prospect, calling it a ‘wonderful venue’. But he also added that street races in places like New York are ‘very, very hard’. He also added that the city was unlikely to shut down Central Park for them – which would definitely be an ideal location.
