Nyck De Vries has been the talk of the paddock for the last few days. After the British GP, things were looking very bleak for the rookie racer who hadn’t done anything impressive yet. Sadly, a few days back, it was announced that Nyck had lost his seat at Red Bull and was being replaced by Daniel Ricciardo. This in turn has sent the paddock into a frenzy of emotions.
Red Bull has been pretty ruthless when it comes to their driver signings and Nyck De Vries has been the most recent victim. The Dutchman had been partnered up with Yuki Tsunoda for the 2023 F1 season. With just 10 races done, the Dutchman’s performance hasn’t improved nor impressed Red Bull. This in turn led to their decision of terminating the contract prematurely. Charles Leclerc took to the media to show his support for Nyck.
Here is what Charles Leclerc had to say to Pit Debrief about the whole situation.” I think it’s too harsh for Nyck [De Vries], but I am also happy to see Daniel [Ricciardo] back in the paddock. It’s part of Formula One, but it’s very harsh for me,” The Monegasque driver stated. This isn’t the first time a Red Bull driver’s contract has ended prematurely and it surely doesn’t seem to be the last.
Nyck De Vries has finally resurfaced on social media to voice his stance on the situation
Nyck has since then gone on to resurface on social media and give his first public statement where he bashed the media for spreading false information. Some claims were very far fetched. “I received some interesting articles about things I’ve said in the last week,” said de Vries. “For clarity, I haven’t spoken to any media and for the time being I’ll enjoy some me time,” he stated.
In an exciting turn of events, Daniel Ricciardo will be making his return to the pinnacle of motorsport with AlphaTauri this weekend. The Aussie rider has been given 13 races to prove his worth and will be aiming on keeping his seat for 2024. He will have Logan Sargeant as his competition for the same. Christian Horner and Helmut Marko have shown their enthusiasm to have Ricciardo racing for them yet again.
