Carlos Sainz, the Ferrari F1 driver, has been all over the web for all the wrong reasons. His seat at the Italian outfit has been given to Lewis Hamilton from 2025 onwards and amidst all the chaos, the 1997 F1 world champion, Jacques Villeneuve, has admitted that Sainz is the big loser.
Carlos Sainz was the only driver other than a Red Bull one to score a Grand Prix win during the 2023 F1 season. He produced a sensational driver at the Singapore Grand Prix and that led to a massive rise in his stock as an F1 driver.
However, fast-forwarding to today, he has lost out on his seat on the Ferrari F1 team. Jacques Villeneuve is extremely surprised as well and while talking about the same recently, he said, as reported by Gazetta:
He is the big loser in this situation as his bargaining power with Audi or anyone else, is obviously much less. Sainz will have no interest in playing team's games. Ferrari's results for him now count for zero, the only thing that will count for him will be his results.
Villeneuve with his comments has made it quite clear, that the Spanish driver will be fighting for his career in F1 during the upcoming 2024 season. Moreover, has indicated that it will not come as a surprise if he is not seen playing the team game but instead, fighting hard to finish the campaign ahead of Charles Leclerc in the driver’s championship.
Carlos Sainz could be on the Mercedes radar from 2025 onwards
While Lewis Hamilton has kicked out Carlos Sainz from Ferrari after the end of the 2024 F1 season, the former has also left a vacant seat at Mercedes. Despite the Brackley-based team’s struggles under the current regulations, they still are a top team in the sport.
Moreover, Sainz has been a consistent performer in F1 and this is one trait that could entice Toto Wolff and Co. to sign him from 2025 onwards. But in order for the 29-year-old to generate interest, he will need to produce a solid campaign this year as well.

It is highly unlikely that Carlos Sainz would get considered for the 2025 Red Bull F1 seat considering his past history with Toro Rosso (Visa Cash App RB). In such a situation, the ideal prospect for him would be to do everything in his power to secure the coveted Mercedes F1 seat alongside George Russell from 2025 onwards.
