Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes maestro, has been competing in F1 for a long time. Over the years, he has amassed several accolades and ahead of the 2024 season, Williams boss, James Vowels, has taken the time to shower praise on him for his knack of pushing the limits.

James Vowels before taking up the mantle of leading the Williams team ahead of the 2023 season, was Mercedes’s Motorsport Strategy Director for several years. During that period, he shared an extremely close bond with Lewis Hamilton.

Vowles has a very good understanding of how Hamilton operates and while talking about the same on the High Performance Podcats, he said, as reported by Soymotor:

Lewis uses the data as a starting point, but he has a feeling beyond everything else. He has no problem exploring the limits. Several times, you can see him go wide in the first corner, go to the limit, and then abort. That used to be one of my biggest frustrations, out of 20 laps, I would complete one. He has never stopped being a perfectionist.

Looking at the reaction, it seems that during Grand Prix weekends, the former seven-time world champion, is totally on it in terms of finding the limits of the car as well as of the various kinds of F1 tracks all over the globe. Moreover, Vowles has even gone on to admit that Lewis Hamilton is an out-and-out perfectionist.

Lewis Hamilton has been driving for Mercedes since 2013

While James Vowels has given some fascinating insights into how the 39-year-old Mercedes driver operates during a grand prix weekend, the latter has been with the Brackley-based team since 2013. Moreover, to date, he has managed to amass six world titles with them(2014-2020). In 2016, his then-teammate, Nico Rosberg was able to clinch the title by the barest of margins.

However, since the end of the 2020 season, things have not panned out well for Hamilton. The Brit had the title in his grasp until the second last lap of the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP, but, it was snatched away under shady decisions that were made by then FIA race director, Michael Masi.

It has been two years since the accursed Abu Dhabi night, but despite this, Lewis Hamilton’s wait for a record-breaking eighth world title is still stretching on and on. The upcoming 2024 F1 season will provide him with another opportunity to become the outright F1 world championship record holder.
