Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion, has become the hottest property at the pinnacle of motor racing in recent years. He has been in sublime form, especially since the dawn of the new F1 regulations, and while he is only 26, his dad, Jos Verstappen, has claimed that Max will keep racing in F1 until 40-45 years of age.
Verstappen, when he joined the pinnacle of motor racing, was seen as a prodigy. As the seasons have gone by, he has only gotten better and better, and this is one of the reasons why Red Bull has got him under contract until the end of 2028. They recognize how valuable an asset he is to them.
At 26 years of age, he has many years ahead of him, and Jos Verstappen, while talking about his son, told Sky Sports:
He [Max] is always calm. Never thinks about the next race. He wants to go home and relax. He doesn't care what people think or say about him. I think he will stay in Formula 1 until 40 or 45 years old if all the small things are there.

"I think he will stay in Formula 1 until 40 or 45 years old, if all the small things are there," Jos says."
What senior Verstappen has said is pretty perplexing, to say the least. The demands of modern F1 racing are very intense, taking a hefty toll on the body. Moreover, Max has several times made it known in the past that he does not see himself racing in F1 during his 40s.
Max Verstappen is unsure of his F1 future beyond 2028
While Jos Verstappen has envisioned an insanely long future for Max Verstappen at the pinnacle of motor racing, the latter is unsure as to how long he is going to keep racing in F1. He has previously several times admitted that he does not know for how long he is going to continue racing in the sport.

Quite recently, while talking about it, he told Sky Sports that he doesn’t want to race to the 40’s like Fernando Alonso and that he wants to enjoy his life more and do other great things. This might include building his own race team and racing in the GT series.
I know that I will be 31 when it's the end of my contract. At that point already I will have been in F1 a very long time and it's a lot of work. All these kinds of things I want to experience in my life and I don't want to be doing them when I'm 40 or 50 because then I'm not at the peak of my performance. When I'm 31, I'm pretty sure I'm still capable of doing great things.

Looking at the Dutchman’s comments, one has to wonder whether he would be seen going around F1 tracks after the end of his current contract. However, while he is unsure about his F1 future, his fans would love to see him continue in the sport for many years after the end of his current Red Bull deal.
