The Christian Horner investigation saga had seemingly ended during the Bahrain GP, following the alleged massive data leak. Since then, no new major news about the team principal’s case has been brought to light. However, amidst the preparations for the Saudi Arabian GP, Max Verstappen‘s father, Jos Verstappen empathized with the female employee who made the allegations.
Red Bull clarified that the team principal was not guilty of inappropriate behavior against a female employee. Milton Keynes suspended the female employee before the start of the Jeddah weekend. Hence, following this, Jos Verstappen mentioned that he ‘sympathized’ with the woman considering everything she went through regarding the case.
I sympathise with the woman, with all that she went through, but we will see what happens.Jos Verstappen told the Dailymail
Additionally, the Dutchman asserted that Red Bull knew what they were doing regarding the female employee. However, it was put to the employee to come out publicly if she wanted to take this matter further. Subsequently, Verstappen Sr. shared his thoughts about the team ‘drawing a line’ over the case but refused to speak much about the status quo to avoid troubles.
Red Bull seem to know what they are doing with her, we will see. But I think it is for her to come out and see what happens. I think it's a bit too late for that now. If that's what he wants, fine, but I don't think it will be possible. I don't want to talk too much more as it will create problems.
Christian Horner to stay as Team Principal of Red Bull in 2024
The 50-year-old has been given the green signal to continue leading Red Bull down the 2024 season. Hence, the 52-year-old added that the Thai owner Chalerm Yoovidhya’s support for Horner was crucial to ensure his security within the team. Additionally, Verstappen Sr. insisted on the fact that the Briton would continue to be the team principal at Milton Keynes despite the entire fiasco.
Also, the two people had a row preceding the season opener Bahrain GP about Jos Verstappen’s previous comments. Regardless of the soured relationship between the two, Horner congratulated Verstappen Sr. following Max Verstappen’s dominant victory at the first race of the 2024 season. Hence, the team would likely proceed with the season as intended despite Christian Horner’s investigation.
I think it's too late for Christian to say 'leave me alone' but he has the support of the Thai owner so I think he will stay for the rest of the season. But on Friday we did have an argument in the office, and I walked out but, in the trailer, he came up to me and said 'Congratulations, good race'.
Red Bull successfully created yet another dominant challenger for the drivers. The team scored a dominant one-two finish at the Bahrain GP. Hence, the team might even score a perfect season in 2024 and shatter multiple records in the sport. For now, Red Bull prepares for the Saudi Arabian GP with pole-sitter Max Verstappen.
