After an impressive Friday qualifying showing, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz positioned his car in P3 for the main race. With McLaren excelling and Oscar Piastri displaying remarkable prowess in his rookie Formula 1 season, many expected him to contend for the podium in Belgium. However, those who doubted him proved right, as his race abruptly ended mere seconds after it began due to Carlos Sainz’s ambitious moves.

Oscar Piastri approached the first corner with the inside line, aiming to overtake Sainz. However, Sainz cut across the track, resulting in a collision that damaged McLaren’s front wing. The impact had more serious consequences, and Piastri’s car was soon sidelined, ending his race.

After reviewing the incident, the FIA deemed no further investigation necessary. Nevertheless, Piastri expressed his dissatisfaction with Sainz’s racing behavior. Sainz’s Ferrari also suffered enough damage to cause him to gradually lose positions, ultimately leading to his retirement as the second participant to exit the Grand Prix.

The collision took a major toll on Carlos Sainz, creating a hole in his sidepod, reminiscent of Sergio Perez’s damage in the previous sprint race. Ferrari reported a significant 5% loss of aerodynamic balance, impacting the Spaniard’s performance. It cast a shadow over what could have been a more favorable outcome for Sainz on an otherwise eventful race weekend. The Twitterati, however, reacted quickly to the Spaniard’s misfortune.

One user suggested that Carlos Sainz’s summer break started early following his DNF. “Carlos sainz starts his holidays early,” they Tweeted. While another user questioned the Spaniard’s place in the Scuderia, “Not sure he’s good enough for Ferrari at the moment.” A different driver sympathized with Sainz’s adversity. “Sad for him, I’m sure he didn’t want to take Oscar out.”

However, other users weren’t too kind with their reactions. One user claimed he deserves the DNF after ruining Oscar Piastri’s race. “Karma for crashing into others,” their Tweet read. Another Twitter user called the Ferrari driver the worse this year. “Sainz is the worse driver this season.” A different user compared Carlos to a Nicholas Latifi, “Bro makes Latifi look like Schumacher.”
