Fernando Alonso drove brilliantly in the 2023 season, scoring eight podiums in Aston Martin’s best ever performance at the pinnacle of motorsport. Alonso spearheaded the team’s new beginning in 2023, helping them score fifth place in the Constructors’ Standings, and is already prepared for a second season with the team.

Nearly winning two races, most notably Monaco, Fernando Alonso proved his status as one of the best drivers on the current grid. Former F1 driver-turned-pundit Karun Chandhok commended the Spaniard for his performance, claiming his drives showed that Alonso still had the energy of a 22-year-old.

He's still got the energy of a 22-year-old, not a 42-year-old. For me, it was an outstanding season.

Alonso managed to outscore his teammate Lance Stroll, outperforming his teammate for the eighth year in a row. The Asturian managed fourth place in the Drivers’ Standings, a career-best for him since the 2013 season when he finished second behind Sebastian Vettel.

However, as the team has approached the front of the grid, two-time champion Alonso has pointed out a difficult time they could face. With the grid beginning to converge, looking for creative methods to advance of the competition could prove to be tricky for Aston Martin, Alonso pointed out.

Now comes the tricky period for Aston Martin. I think the next two or three years – to find that extra bit, to create something that no one has in that moment, to be creative, to be innovative.
Fernando Alonso said, as reported by motorsport.com

Aston Martin finished fifth in the Constructors’ Standings, falling from second in a drop-off performance due to lack of efficient upgrades. Aston Martin has promised improvement in 2024 though, to try and get back to the front of the field as they did in early 2023.
