The 2023 Italian GP is just a few hours away and amidst the ever-building anticipation regarding the spectacular event, Aston Martin driver, Lance Stroll has asked his team to have a detailed look into his struggles during yesterday’s qualifying session. Stroll was knocked out in Q1 with being last in the standings.
The Italian GP qualifying session threw quite a few good surprises the way of the Tifosi but for Lance Stroll, the session was one to forget. While Fernando Alonso was able to put his AMR23 through the wringer enough to get a Q3 birth, Stroll, on the other hand, was struggling with a plethora of issues during Q1.
The Canadian believes his disastrous outing completely baffles him, and while talking about the same, he said, as reported by Formul1.uno, “Yeah, it was tricky. I just had no grip out there today. We’ve got to have a look at what was going on with the car. You approach it like any other session: try and get the most out of the car, build up to it, and extract what you can out of it.“
“Unfortunately, it was one of those sessions – I don’t know, just felt no grip in the car. I didn’t get a single lap yesterday during the first and second practice sessions, and while that didn’t help, I don’t think it was the cause of today’s result. We’ll regroup as a team this evening and look through the data to see if we can identify where things went wrong today.”

Lance Stroll is determined to make up places during the Italian GP

While Lance Stroll is very dejected with how yesterday’s qualifying session panned out for him at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit, he would look to get off to a strong start during the upcoming race and hopefully make up a few places that would set him up for the rest of the event.
Starting P20, the objective for Stroll is simply going to be somehow to make his way up to the Top 10 finishes to score some points for the Silverstone-based Aston Martin F1 team. Moreover, the AMR23 has shown a solid race pace this year and could help him achieve his targets at the Italian GP.
However, it will not be like a walk in the park for the 24-year-old as he has got the two Alpines starting ahead of him. Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon are both extremely potent in defending and will make life extremely difficult for Stroll to get past them during the race.
