McLaren is off to a decent start during the 2024 F1 season. During the winter break, the team worked extremely hard to make necessary changes to their MCL38. They are definitely seeing better results this season, as last year, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri struggled a lot with the car in the first half of the campaign.

Lando Norris did have a lot of podium finishes during the second half of the season, but the British driver was never really comfortable in their MCL60. This season, the team has made slight differences in its car. The changes made in MCL38 still have aspects that go against Norris’s likings.

While talking to the media regarding the same, the Briton said,

We came to the test with plenty of things to try and stuff to tackle these weaknesses but not enough things to say I think this is easily the route that we need to go down. So we still have a lot of work going on to try and tackle these areas because it’s the larger areas that will make me be happy to drive the car, that will allow me to extract more time out of the car, be more consistent and just to make the car quicker in general.

Norris expects that the team will make the necessary changes in the car so that he will be able to pull out better results. However, there are some difficulties faced by the team, while tackling certain issues. Norris is not completely happy with the car but believes that McLaren has come far and is heading in the right direction regarding the progress.

Lando Norris comes in support of his best friend Max Verstappen

In previous seasons as well as this season, Red Bull has established their dominance. In 2023, Red Bull won both the constructors championship as well as the driver’s championship. With three championships under his belt, Max Verstappen aims for a fourth.

Many teams are finding it difficult to fill the gap no matter how hard they try. A few pundits in the paddock, believe that Red Bull needs to slow down, but Verstappen’s best friend Norris thinks otherwise.

While talking to the media regarding the same, he added,

Of course watching, you wish there were more battles at the front. I can't do anything about it. Max is doing a good job, Red Bull is doing a good job. You can't discourage any of that. Is it as exciting as what everyone would like? Absolutely not. But it's the same in any other sport. If someone's doing a better job, they're going to win.

According to the 24-year-old, it would be unfair to Red Bull and its drivers. He believes that if someone is doing this great job in the championship, that means, they are putting more effort, and strategizing intellectually, to pull this off strong results. There are still 22 races left in the ongoing 2024 F1 season.
