Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 world champion, has been sparkling his magic for several years. He had a solid 2023 campaign and while the sport is currently at a halt, McLaren’s Lando Norris has admitted that Verstappen is the best driver in the world.

Under the current set of regulations, Max Verstappen has operated in a league of his own and has proved almost unbeatable. To put things into perspective, he amassed 19 wins last year out of the 22 available.

Lando Norris, who very recently signed a contract extension at McLaren, was asked whether the Dutchman is one of the best drivers in F1, and as a response to Sky Sports F1, he said,

Absolutely! He has proved that enough. It takes time to adapt...and if you want to go against the best driver in the world it's not the best thing to do. It's not a smart move to do.

Looking at the reaction of the Brit, it is quite clear that he has tremendous respect for the Red Bull driver for what he has so far achieved in his career. Moreover, has made it known that driving on the same team as Verstappen is not the smartest thing to do as it usually takes time for a new driver to adapt.

Lando Norris will have a spring in his step in 2024

While Lando Norris has left no stone unturned in applauding Max Verstappen, the former will be heading to the upcoming 2024 season high on confidence. Especially considering, that he’s signed an extended multi-year deal with the Woking-based team.

The 24-year-old had an impressive campaign last year, and he was one of the few drivers, who was able to take the fight to Verstappen on occasions. Moreover, he ended the season in sixth place in the Drivers Championship with a brilliant 205 points.

Lando Norris has all the skills in his arsenal to become a future world champion. Until now, he has not had the machinery to challenge for the coveted title, and keeping this in view, the onus is really going to be on the McLaren F1 team to provide Norris with the right tools as soon as possible.
