McLaren had one of the best comeback seasons of all time in 2023, improving drastically from the beginning of the season. McLaren was struggling to qualify for Q2 at the beginning of the season but managed to get nine podiums with their two drivers in the second stint of the 2023 season.

After the Austrian Grand Prix saw major upgrades being introduced by the Woking team, they seemed incredibly quick and managed to shoot up in the standings, finishing in P4 in the Constructors’ Standings by the end of the year. Lando Norris credited the team principal Andrea Stella for the resurgence, saying that Stella was the director of the actions that rescued McLaren from terrible results.

I did an interview the other day and I had to say a big thanks to him because I think it’s not everything just on him and you’ve got to thank a lot of other people on the team because they’re the ones who have done a lot of the work and Andrea is just the director of it all.
Lando Norris said, as reported by motorsportweek.com

McLaren is the only team except Ferrari to achieve a race win in any format in 2023 other than Red Bull and Ferrari with Oscar Piastri’s win at the Qatar GP Sprint race. With seven podiums as grounds to improve, McLaren will be attempting to match the reigning champion Red Bull team in 2024 with further development coming for next year.
