Max Verstappen has continued to dominate F1 in 2023. The Dutch driver has been unstoppable this season, with eight race wins. The 25-year-old seems set to be heading towards a third consecutive world title. However, Adam Norris, the father of McLaren driver Lando Norris, insists that his son can be the one to beat Verstappen.

Norris senior reckoned that Lando had shown immense pace in his junior career. This eventually got the British driver to race in F1 with the Woking-based team. As such, Adam Norris believed that his son could indeed be the one who outperformed the two-time world champion. He told baylasportsf1.com, “He showed signs of promise when he was really young. He was always fast, ridiculously fast, so he will be able to take it to Max.”

He stated, “I think he is the one to beat Max.” Norris managed to qualify on the front row at the British GP. The McLaren driver briefly led the first few laps of the race. However, Verstappen overtook the 25-year-old in the dominant RB-19.

Lando Norris was part of the McLaren junior program that allowed him to debut with the Woking-based team in 2019. Since then, Norris has been an integral part of the British squad and established himself as the team leader. However, there was a time when the Norris family was nervous regarding the 25-year-old’s career prospects.

Adam Norris explained, “I was 50-50 on whether he [Lando] would ever get into F1 on the day he signed his contract.” The 47-year-old would certainly be proud of what his son has accomplished at the pinnacle of motorsport. Lando Norris is a potential world champion who has remained on the radar for teams like Red Bull.

Thus, Lando Norris’ father is confident that the McLaren driver will end Max Verstappen’s streak of world titles. The 47-year-old was convinced that Norris had what it takes to end the Dutchman’s reign in the sport. Although, fans would have to wait until McLaren can provide Lando Norris with a car capable of challenging the mighty Red Bulls.
