Dutchman Max Verstappen has been creating history in Formula 1 with his dominant performance in the past two seasons. The reigning world champion shattered multiple records in the 2023 season and can potentially score a perfect season this time around. Multiple personalities on the grid have bemoaned this dominance. However, McLaren’s Lando Norris feels differently about the same as he wasn’t concerned with the dominant performance of the driver.
Lando Norris held a positive point of view on Max Verstappen‘s unnerving performance in the recent season. The Briton mentioned that it wasn’t concerning to see the Dutchman perform at his A-game. Additionally, the 24-year-old recalled the 2023 season’s latter half when McLaren started catching up to Milton Keynes. However, the Englishman pointed towards the time Red Bull spent on developing the RB20 challenger for the team.
It's honestly not worrying, I don't think so, when you consider the extent to which we managed to close that gap and knowing that they spent a lot of time developing this year's car...I am satisfied with how close we are to Red Bull. Even in qualifying it was not that he had it easy. So I'm sure they are still learning, they have a completely different concept.Norris said, as reported by nl.motorsport.com.
Apart from this, Norris claimed that he was ‘satisfied’ with how close Woking was to Red Bull in terms of pace down the season. The 26-year-old recalled the recent qualifying sessions where the Milton Keynes drivers were not able to score the best results with utmost ease. Additionally, the Briton also resonated with Max Verstappen over the RB20 challenger being complete ‘non conservative’.
Valtteri Bottas had a different perspective over Max Verstappen dominance
Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas had a different thought process as compared to Lando Norris. The Finnish driver mentioned that the Max Verstappen dominance was a bit ‘disturbing’. The 34-year-old pointed towards the clean sweep that the Dutchman had in the past two races of the 2024 season. However, Bottas hoped for a different outcome during the 2024 season and added how the team had their priorities straight.
It has been a clean sweep for Red Bull and Max in the last two races. That doesn't change our focus and our battles on the track, but for the whole world it can get a bit like last year. But let's hope it changes during the year.Bottas said.
Hence, the entire season would likely be led by the two Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. The two drivers currently occupy a one-two position in the drivers’ standings all thanks to the dominant RB20 chassis. Additionally, Verstappen is on the trajectory to potentially score one of the most dominant seasons in F1’s 2024 season.
