The Hungarian Grand Prix saw some scintillating action go down right from the starting lap as Max Verstappen rapidly gained on Lewis Hamilton after starting from the spot behind his old rival. Because of the poor start, Hamilton could not get back to his leading position in the grid, and during the struggle, he fell back behind the two McLarens who took advantage of the mayhem and pushed behind Verstappen to surpass the Briton. This led to Oscar Piastri continuing in P2 for a major length of the race until his teammate Lando Norris got the better of him and captured his spot.

Only a couple of weeks ago, Lando Norris surprised the entire F1 community by snatching a second-place finish at the British GP. He repeated the enormous feat once again at the Hungaroring but pulling up behind close friend Max Verstappen after surpassing some heavyweight opponents like Lewis Hamilton and his own McLaren partner Oscar Piastri. Overwhelmed with the results of his outing at Hungary, Norris answered a question regarding his prospects of winning a Grand Prix now that he had gathered a couple of P2 finishes already.

During the post-race interviews, when faced with the question of whether Lando Norris will get his hands on a race-winning trophy anytime soon, he had a cheeky reply. Owing to the huge dominance Max Verstappen has established in the recent Grands Prix in Formula One, Lando Norris said, “If Max retires then maybe!” This means that Lando thinks he might only win if his friend and opponent from Red Bull retires from his run in the highest league of motorsports.

For the first nine races of F1 2023, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were scurrying at the back of the grid because of the incompetence of their McLaren MCL-36. But the Woking-based team pulled off an unexpected wonder with their upgrades installed ahead of the British GP. This resulted in Lando Norris getting a podium at his home race and then another one at the Hungarian GP. Celebrating his feat, he wrote on his Twitter handle, “P2!!! Another podium. Papaya is back.”

While Lando Norris is busy pulling off amazing performances with McLaren, his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo is back in the field with his new contract with AlphaTauri. Last year, Zak Brown’s squad had severed ties with the Australian citing his poor performance in order to take up Oscar Piastri. In his first race since coming back to F1, the Honey Badger narrowly missed out on a points finish and finished 13th. Now, it remains to be seen how these drivers fare at the remaining races of this season.
