Lawrence Stroll confirms talks of an Aston Martin-Audi partnership
Lawrence Stroll
The Canadian investor and businessman Lawrence Stroll heads the F1 team Aston Martin which got its name after the Racing Point F1 Team was rebranded right before the 2021 season of Formula 1 started. With the strong pair of Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll driving for the team, Aston Martin showed prospects of challenging one of the top teams with their improved cars and Mercedes engines. But unfortunately, the team has been unable to deliver the performance that their Motorsport enthusiast fans had expected from them.
In the all-new 2022 F1 season that saw the end of the turbo-hybrid era in F1, Aston Martin failed to impress as their main driver Sebastian Vettel missed out on the first two races of the year due to COVID-19. As of now, four races have already taken place for 2022, and Aston Martin stands at the 9th spot in the Constructors’ Championship standings with 5 points to their name.
But Formula 1 viewers can expect some new things to come from Aston Martin as their head Lawrence Stroll recently confirmed they have been approached by Audi, a luxury car manufacturer, for a possible partnership. Are there great things brewing at the Aston Martin factories in Silverstone? The fans might get an answer to that by 2026.

Audi and Porsche are luxury SUV manufacturers under the aegis of the Volkswagen group. And there have been reports that the parent group is trying to enter into Formula 1 with these two brands. While Ferrari and Mercedes, who are the chief competitors of Audi and Porsche, are already dominating the F1 sphere with their own engines, Volkswagen wants to enter the field as well. Possibly, these brands will appear in Formula 1 by the year 2026.
The Volkswagen Group had been conducting talks about manufacturing power units for the F1 cars since long ago, and it seems that their plans have now materialized into deals.
In a recent meet with investors, Lawrence Stroll of Aston Martin answered a question raised by the Bank of America. He said, “Have we been approached by Audi? Yes.” Now, it remains to be seen when we find the new names in Formula 1.
