The Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, has decided not to drive the Mercedes W14 anymore. Although reliable, the Mercedes W14 could be faster. He is constantly pushing the car limit and bringing it to positions where it doesn’t belong. But as of now, only three races remain in this season, after which the W14 won’t return to the F1 racing world again.

After a depressing Sprint race in Brazil where he lost positions to Ferraris and even AlphaTauris, Hamilton seemed to blame the car not being compatible with soft tires, which he was punching so much. This Mercedes car, driven by him, is still yet to finish anywhere below eight on the track in Grands Prix. The Briton is very consistent with his car, having scored seven podiums, one of which resulted in disqualification.

In an interview reported by Mirror, Hamilton said he believes the tire-eating monster strikes their pace frequently, as it did in the Sprint race of the Brazilian Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion was passed by the AlphaTauri, which is one of the slowest cars of the season.

The last few races have been exciting because we're progressing, and it's positive to see. But only a couple more races with this car and it'll gone, and I'll be happy.

He says the team struggles a lot to get the right balance with the car’s wing, the understeer, the snap oversteer, and the degradation of tires. The team has promised a lot with the next year’s car to Hamilton; let’s see if they satisfy their promise.

It's like you just don't know what to expect with this one. This year, you're just counting down the days, trying to enjoy every day as you can.

Toto Wolff’s reaction to the below-average Sprint race for the Mercedes team

After Saturday’s Sprint race at Interlagos, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff called it “a bruising day” for his team. Drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, both lost positions in the Sprint race at the Sao Paulo GP. The team boss wants to move on from the poor Sprint race format and focus on Sunday’s race.

We pushed very hard at the beginning. But the car was not in the right balance and it just killed the tires.

Everyone seemed to face the tire deg issue on soft tires, but the Silver Arrows were affected the most. The Mercedes team boss said it’s both the car and luck that went against them in the Sprint race.

Mercedes is currently sitting P2 in the Constructors Championship, trying to defend their spot from the Ferraris, both of which seem far better than them in race pace. Also, Hamilton might try to aim for the P2 in the Drivers Championship as he is starting ahead of the Red Bull of Sergio Perez.
