In the past year and a half, Red Bull’s dominance under the current F1 regulations has been undeniably captivating. This aspect hasn’t escaped the attention of Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes veteran has consistently highlighted how leading teams, with their significant advantages, can gain an early jump on developing next year’s cars. Now, Hamilton introduces another worry to the growing list.
Lewis Hamilton voiced worries about the potential lack of excitement in the upcoming seasons due to Red Bull’s effective operation. He acknowledged the possibility of Red Bull dominating for three years due to the cost cap and their current setup. Hamilton also praised Max Verstappen and his team, emphasizing their deserving success while clarifying his lack of intention to undermine it.
“There is a chance that Red Bull, with the cost cap and the way it’s set up now, they’re so far ahead that they could dominate for the next three years,” Hamilton told Chanel 4. “Max and his team have done an exceptional job, and they truly deserve the success they’re having, and I’m not trying to taint that at all.”

Mercedes is no stranger to dominating an F1 season. The Silver Arrows commanded the field for almost the entirety of the hybrid era. Lewis Hamilton won six of his seven championships with Mercedes in 2014-2021. Most of the Brit’s record-breaking wins have occurred in F1’s hybrid era.
In the same interview, Hamilton highlighted the importance of having discussions to prevent extended periods of dominance, such as his own or Michael Schumacher‘s. he believes the sport needs ongoing changes and improvements to foster closer championship battles. He also said that the greatest excitement lies in championship battles that go down the wire, making the final race thrilling.
“It’s just about the conversation and so that we don’t have my period, or Schumacher’s period just continued time and time again,” Hamilton explained. “We’ve got to continue to make changes and improve as a sport so we have closer battles in the championship,” the Brit stated.
Red Bull’s supremacy in F1 2023 has extended further following their successful double-title win in 2022. With a perfect record of 10 wins out of 10 races and additional sprint victories, they are on track for an undefeated season. Meanwhile, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Ferrari, and McLaren find themselves in the midfield.
