Max Verstappen and Red Bull have dominated the 2023 F1 season. Verstappen has won a record-breaking eighteen races this year so far with the Austrian team bagging a total of twenty race victories. Now, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has claimed that the Milton Keynes-based team has gotten used to this success.

Hamilton believes that with such a dominant run, it becomes difficult for any team to keep things in perspective. The Briton claimed that even the voice of Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has lost enthusiasm as Verstappen continued to dominate the season. The 38-year-old reckoned that Horner might not even know what to say for the Dutchman’s streak of race wins.

When you have so much success, no matter how hard you try it’s hard to keep things in perspective. I even hear it in Christian Horner’s voice when Max wins, he doesn’t know what to say. He’s like: ‘Here we go again. Good job, Max. Good job.’
Lewis Hamilton told Channel 4

Moreover, the seven-time world champion highlighted that when a team starts winning, it is full of thrill and excitement. However, As Max Verstappen and Red Bull continued their success, the excitement might’ve started to fade away. Lewis Hamilton might experienced a similar feeling as he won six world titles between 2014 and 2020 during Mercedes’ dominance in F1.

The excitement goes, but when you first get that win it’s amazing. But if you have it all the time [it’s not the same].

Lewis Hamilton has learned lessons during Mercedes’ slump since 2022

Mercedes fell in the pecking order with the start of the ground-effect era in F1. The Brackley-based team had no answer to Red Bull’s dominant machinery. Subsequently, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell struggled to fight at the front of the field with Hamilton being winless since his last victory at Interlagos in 2021.

The seven-time world champion pointed out that he has learned some important lessons during this period. Hamilton claimed that he has changed how he interacts with his team off-track. Moreover, the Briton was adamant that his next race win would be really special after the struggles faced by the Silver Arrows in the past seasons.

Of course, I want to win again. I do feel like when we do win again, the feeling is going to be even greater because everyone’s struggled.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton remains hungry to win again in F1. The 38-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Mercedes that will see him race for the Silver Arrows till at least 2025. However, it remains to be seen if the Brackley-based team can provide him with a car capable of fighting for a race win in that period.
