Lewis Hamilton has recently signed a new contract at Mercedes that will keep him with the German outfit until the end of 2025. He is currently 38 years old, and keeping his age in view, he has admitted that he is pushing extremely hard for a South African GP in the upcoming years. He believes racing in South Africa would be an experience of a lifetime.

Lewis Hamilton has been competing regularly at the pinnacle of motor racing since the 2007 season. Over the years, he has raced at a plethora of venues. From the iconic Monaco event to racing under the scorching humidity of Singapore, he has done everything. He feels as if he is currently in the twilight stage of his F1 career; he needs to race at least once in South Africa.

While shedding light on the same, he told GQ.com, “I want to race in Africa. We’re on all the other continents. When you do bring a Grand Prix to a place, it brings so much attention and so much travel, great for the economy and educating people. When we travel, we have an opportunity to really tap into the community and leave a long-lasting legacy. It shouldn’t just be to show up, do a show, and leave.”

I’m pushing very hard, constantly calling and being like, “Where are we at with that Grand Prix?” I want to race there before I retire. I’ve raced everywhere else. South Africa, like Johannesburg, would be amazing. Cape Town could be awesome.” The Brit has made it clear that it is on his wishlist to race in front of the fans in South Africa.

Lewis Hamilton would touch 40 by the 2025 F1 season

While Lewis Hamilton has made it known that he wants to participate in a South African GP, there is no guarantee that he will be able to do it. As mentioned earlier, he is 38 and no one knows for how long he would be able to put his body through the strains of F1. The physical demands of the sport are immense and take a heavy toll on the body.

However, despite an aging body, it is possible to keep racing F1, as proved by the current Aston Martin driver, Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard is 42 years old but, despite this fact, has shown no signs of slowing down. He is fast as ever and has claimed seven podium finishes during the 2023 F1 season. If it’s possible for Alonso to keep racing, then it’s possible for the Brit as well.

Lewis Hamilton is in prime physical condition and takes the utmost care of his body. Hamilton is extremely fit, and if he is seen going around circuits after 2025, it would not be a huge surprise, considering his pedigree and love for the sport. Lewis Hamilton is an F1 legend whose fans would want to see him racing for as long as possible.
