The Mercedes Formula 1 team fell off its F1 pedestal at the end of the 2021 season. While the Brackley-based team has struggled to get to grips with the new regulations, its driver, Lewis Hamilton, has made it known that, in his opinion, Max Verstappen‘s Red Bull will dominate F1 at least for a couple more years.

The Milton-Keynes-based Red Bull team has won the F1 world championship on the bounce for two consecutive years under the new regulations. Max Verstappen, the 3-time world champion, has perfectly led the team’s charge, and the ongoing season is a prime example of it.

Lewis Hamilton is immensely impressed with the job the Austrian outfit has done since 2022. While talking about it during the Brazilian GP weekend, he said, as reported by LWOS:

The Red Bull, I think, is so far away – I think they’re probably going to be very clear for the next couple of years.

Hamilton has had a struggle behind a Mercedes car since 2022, and while he is optimistic about his team’s chances in the upcoming years, he has made it known that Red Bull is most probably going to dominate the pinnacle of motor racing, at least for a couple of more years.

Lewis Hamilton desperately needs the winter F1 break

While Lewis Hamilton has predicted Red Bull’s dominance for a couple more years, from a personal standpoint, he desperately needs the upcoming winter F1 break. Only two races are remaining in the season, and after that, Hamilton would have the chance to get away from the sport for some time.

The 2023 campaign has proven to be extremely frustrating for the former 7-time world champion, and it has been really tough for him to fight a bit down on the grid. While he has scored a few podium finishes here and there, it is not good enough for a driver of Hamilton’s caliber.

Lewis Hamilton wants Mercedes to pull up its socks ahead of the 2024 F1 season and try and produce a car with which he would be able to pose some kind of a challenge to Max Verstappen. However, considering Red Bull’s might, it seems like a highly improbable prospect.
