Regarded as one of the undoubted legends in the world of motorsports, Lewis Hamilton has had a long and fulfilling career in Formula 1, and he is not showing any sign of slowing down. The 37-year-old has already got a two-year contract in place with his current team, Mercedes, which lets him stay till the end of next year. With a staggering seven World Championship title wins to his name, Lewis currently holds the record of highest number of Championship victories jointly with the German Formula 1 wizard Michael Schumacher.
With the greatest amount of experience under his belt and a hunger to chase after the history-making eighth F1 World Championship title, Lewis Hamilton wants to continue his journey in the sport for at least a few more years. The Briton has repeatedly told various news outlets that he does not want to think about retiring anytime soon.
Lewis did struggle with his Mercedes at the start of this year, and gave rise to widespread speculations amongst the F1 communities regarding his impending retirement. But disregarding all the rumors, the F1 veteran turned the tables and got a brilliant P2 finish at Hungary just before the summer break, proving to everyone that he has not lost his form just yet.

In a bare-it-all conversation with Vanity Fair about his career, his future in F1 and his other interests, Lewis Hamilton mentioned that retiring from Formula 1 is not in the cards for him as of yet. The Briton wants to continue on his quest to find the eighth World Championship title for himself, as he believes he can achieve that in the next few years. While Mercedes’ 2022 campaign could not give him a Championship-winning car, the Briton admitted that he has mulled over the option of signing a contract extension with the Stuttgart-based outfit to continue racing beyond 2023.
Speaking of his potential stay in F1 after his two-year contract with Mercedes, which he signed last year, is terminated, Lewis Hamilton mentioned, “I’ll be lying if I said that I hadn’t thought about extending.”
He also said, “I’m still on the mission, I’m still loving driving, I’m still being challenged by it. So I don’t really feel like I have to give it up anytime soon.” Indeed, Lewis has the making of millions of fans who wish for him to achieve his eighth World Championship to build a new record in Formula 1 history, as many believe he is the only racer who deserves the win.
