The Mercedes Formula 1 team has had a pretty up-and-down 2023 F1 season. After initial setbacks, the Brackley-based team recently hit form and is a major contender to pull out something special at the Mexico GP. While the hype around the team is high, Lewis Hamilton has taken the time to talk about Max Verstappen and Co.’s mighty RB19.
Max Verstappen has operated in a league of his own this year behind the wheel of the RB19. He has bashed his competition left and right quite easily and with the main Mexico GP just around the corner, Lewis Hamilton has showered praise on the beast that Red Bull has produced for this year.
The Mercedes has always worked well in this type of curve… But as the speed increases, the separation between them becomes greater. They can accelerate before any other car. The Red Bull is much easier to drive than our car. It can keep the tires at optimal temperature and lengthen the stints. Together they have done a great job and have a very stable platform. So easy that you don't even get out of the car sweaty.Lewis Hamilton told Soymotor
The Brit has left no stone unturned in applauding Red Bull’s 2023 masterpiece.
Lewis Hamilton is in with a decent shot to do something special at the Mexico GP
While Lewis Hamilton has left no stone unturned in showering massive praise on the Red Bull team for their RB19, he and Mercedes have a real shot of doing something stupendous themselves during the ongoing Mexican GP weekend. Since arriving at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, the W14 has worked really well.
During yesterday’s FP1 and FP2 sessions, the team was focussing on long runs and showed tremendous pace. The upcoming FP3 session is going to be the one where they would try to settle on a setup for the qualifying session which would take place a few hours after FP3.
If Lewis Hamilton and Co. are able to have a productive outing during quali, then they would be in with a real shot at becoming a nuisance for Max Verstappen during Sunday’s Mexico Grand Prix. Hamilton would be eying a podium finish in front of the fans at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit.
