Lewis Hamilton has a joint world record of having won seven world championships. However, he is in no mood to slow down just yet as he will be racing with Mercedes for at least two more years as per his contract extension. In an interview with BLICK, Hamilton revealed his future plans on having children and settling down.
Hamilton said that he is not ready to have children right now. His commitment and passion for racing do not leave any time and energy for the Briton for family planning. He said that he still has a lot of goals to achieve in his career. While the Mercedes driver admitted that it is necessary to strike a proper work-life balance, he said that he has not yet been able to do so.
“No. I don’t have time for that – I enjoy being an uncle!… I want to do my job 100 percent. Of course, you have to find the necessary balance and compromise with your private life. But fortunately, that day has not yet come,” Hamilton told BLICK. (H&T: Silver Arrows Net)
While Hamilton has not been able to achieve that balance, many drivers on the grid are currently raising children while performing in F1. Drivers like Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen, and Nico Hulkenberg all have children and are still performing at the highest level.

Lewis Hamilton recalls the moment with Toto Wolff before signing the extension
Lewis Hamilton’s long drawn-out renewal saga ended in September. The Brit signed a two-year extension with Mercedes, meaning he will be racing for them until he turns 41 years old. After all is done and dusted, Hamilton revealed that despite their long relations, he and Toto Wolff had a lot to discuss during their negotiations.

Hamilton said that this wasn’t the first of the instances where he ‘haggled’ with Wolff. Being such a prominent icon of F1, he said that they had a lot to discuss about his promotional activities as well. He ended by saying that he and Wolff share a good relationship and have nothing but respect for each other.
“This isn’t the first time the two of us have discussed and haggled over details for hours. There are so many details about my promotional activities. I’m in a fortunate position with Toto. It’s easy to negotiate with him. And that makes him a great leader,” said Hamilton.
