Mercedes driver, the seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, is applauding Toto Wolff’s spouse, Susie Wolff‘s significant role in promoting inclusivity within the sport. Lewis Hamilton‘s commitment to diversity has been evident through initiatives like Mission 44 and Mercedes’ Ignite and Accelerate 25 programs.
The F1 Academy, an innovative initiative, seeks to address the gender gap in motorsports. This forward-thinking endeavor debuted on the motorsport scene in the 2023 season. With five prominent teams – ART, Campos, Rodin Carlin, MP Motorsport, and Prema – each fielding three cars, the F1 Academy boasts a formidable 15-car grid. Exclusively aimed at female drivers, the F1 Academy is a stepping stone for these talented racers to enter Formula 3 and progressively ascend the motorsport ladder.
Susie Wolff is pivotal in the F1 Academy as she is at the helm of it. Wolff, a former driver herself and the CEO and Team Principal of Venturi Formula E, now serves as the Managing Director of the F1 Academy. Her unique viewpoint, derived from her driving career and her work in team management, adds a vital and comprehensive perspective to the endeavor.
As reported by Racingnews.360, the seven-time champion said, “Really happy to hear of the progress being made.” He acknowledges Susie Wolff’s unique perspective, stemming from both her driving career and her role in team management, and according to him, “I think it’s been great having Susie in there.” The Mercedes driver added, “She’s really fighting for that inclusivity.”

Formula 1’s recent announcement ensures backing from all 10 teams for the all-female F1 Academy, with each nominating a driver in 2024. Speaking of this, Hamilton says, “I think it’s really great the steps that were taken and really happy to hear that all of Formula 1 is on board.”
