The world of Formula 1 evolves season by season and constantly views introduction of new parts to the sport. The current season in itself is a new era in the sport. The factors such as the ground effect cars, the 18-inch tyres and the new fuel used are what differentiates this season from any other. The 2022 season commenced with new faces as the race director in Formula 1. The pairing of Eduardo Freitas and Niels Wittich replace the out going Michael Masi.

Ever since their appointment, the new race directors have worked together to take the sport in right direction after the controversial ending of the 2021 season. The change in safety car procedures were one of the initial changes introduced by the pair. Recently, the race director notes viewed a notice about drivers being prohibited from wearing jewellery on track and also wearing fire resistant underwear.

Lewis Hamilton Not Impressed By The Rule Changes Prior To The Miami Grand Prix

The Race director, Niels Wittich notes ahead of the Miami Grand Prix stated “the wearing of jewellery underneath flame-resistant clothing “can reduce the protection afforded by this equipment. Metallic objects, such as jewellery, in contact with the skin can reduce heat transmission protection and thus may increase the risk of burn injuries in the event of a fire.”

The seven time world champion, Lewis Hamilton expressed his views on the matter saying “I don’t have any plans on removing them. I feel there are personal things. You should be able to be who you are.” He added that some of his piercing cannot be removed as they are welded in.

The first on track of the Miami Grand Prix is just hours away. The teams and drivers will get their first taste of a newly built track and it is going to be one big spectacle out in the magic city.
