At the tumultuous Qualifying Round in Monaco, Lewis Hamilton got a P6 start after an average quali performance, dimming the hopes of all the fans who were expecting him to deliver a masterclass. The seven-time World Champion has already won thrice in the Principality, but now, it does not seem like Lewis Hamilton would be able to attain victory at the Monaco GP by any chance. Even Lewis’ boss Toto Wolff has given some grave news regarding the current situation of the Mercedes W14 ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.

As fans were waiting for the Monaco GP to kickstart, one of their biggest debates was on the return of Mercedes’ sidepods. The Brackley outfit brought about their biggest upgrades of this season ahead of the race at the Circuit dé Monaco in hopes of becoming for competent. This change in the W14 was expected to be seen at the Imola GP, but Mercedes had to postpone it because of the cancellation of the race in Italy. While many followers were embarking on the upgrades being able to make Lewis Hamilton perform better, there seems to be no improvement judging from the Free Practices and the Quali.

While Lewis Hamilton was veering in the narrow street circuit of Monaco, he drove into the wall. Toto Wolff has now given an upsetting update that the repairing of the W14. The Austrian admitted that the Mercedes car is still not perfect enough for the seven-time World Champion to tap into its full power and gain victory yet. He said, “The car is coherent, is one. The rear axle is still difficult, but it’s something that we will rectify over the next few weeks. But there is still a long way to go before we can get back to the front and fight for victory.” (translated by Google)

During the FP3 Round, Lewis Hamilton crashed into the wall after losing control of his W14 in the narrow street circuit of Monaco. The car had to be lifted by a crane, and the video of it soaring high above the ground went viral on the internet. While the mechanics at the Merc pit were able to fix the racecar ahead of the Qualifiers, Lewis Hamilton could only manage a P6 finish in Q3. And because of Charles Leclerc’s penalty, the Briton will start the race from the fifth position.

But even a top 5 start to the Monaco race might not be enough to salvage Lewis Hamilton’s situation. Toto Wolff has said there is still some fixing that needs to be done to the rear axle of his car, and it will only be accomplished within a few weeks. Now, it remains to be seen if Lewis still unlocks some miracles along the Monaco streets and gets a brilliant finish at the end of his race in the Principality.
