Lewis Hamilton opens up on experiencing NFL after buying a minority team stake in a $4.64 billion dollar deal
Lewis Hamilton shares details about his experience watching his own NFL team play in person.

Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton is one of the highest paid athletes in the world. In the 2022 F1 season, the 7 time world champion was earning about $50 million dollars per year racing for Mercedes. This number is on par with Aaron Rodgers who was NFL’s highest paid athlete last year. With such a big pool of income coming his way, it is not much of a surprise to see the F1 Veteran invest it back into sports.
It may come as a surprise to some F1 fans that Lewis Hamilton is a minority stake owner of the Walton-Penner group that bought the three-time Super Bowl-winning Broncos in 2022. The cost of the whole deal was a whopping $4.65 billion. With F1 race weekends and NFL game schedules being tightly wound up, it is not possible for the 7 Time World Champion to watch his team play and race at the same time.
However, the Brit did get a chance to watch the Denver Broncos play in person during the 2022 season. He came to Los Angeles in order to watch the Denver Broncos play against the Los Angeles Chargers. Hamilton’s team lost 19-16 at the SoFi stadium. Nevertheless, Lewis’s visit helped him realise the potential gains that he could make by learning about the players do when it comes to athlete performance operations.

During the 2022 US GP, the Mercedes driver went on to talk about his A plus experience. “That experience was incredible, to just be in that huge arena. Firstly, the stadium is amazing but just to see a different group of fans – all with the similarities of the fans that we have here, just passionate about their team, right on the edge of their seats for every single play,” he said.
“And then for me, just like speaking to the coach, speaking to the players, and speaking to the rest of the owners, about the takeover, about the challenges that we have, the things that we need to improve on, like our offence. Our defence is really strong but our offence is quite weak at the moment,” he continued as he went on to talk about the Denver Broncos.
Lewis Hamilton is poised to sign a multi year deal with Mercedes that might result in him competing in the pinnacle of motorsports even in his 40’s. It shows that the driver is resilient and wants to give it his all until he has nothing left to give. After winning 7 world championships, the Brit is still hungry for more. It will be interesting to see how Lewis performs in the upcoming 2023 F1 season.
