Lewis Hamilton is one of the all-time greats of Formula 1. Hamilton has broken records over the years as he won an unprecedented 103 F1 races. Lewis also holds the joint record for winning the most F1 Drivers’ titles alongside Michael Schumacher with seven each. However, there has been speculation about the 39-year-old’s retirement from F1 in recent times, especially after a rough 2022 season.

Lewis Hamilton recently brought an end to the retirement rumors in an interview. Firstly, Lewis started things off by stating his present mindset of living one day at a time and truly having fun. He said, “Right now I’m just tryna live in the moment. I’m tryna just be happy. I’m tryna just enjoy my job.” Hamilton also mentioned how he’s trying to improve himself in multiple aspects. Lewis Hamilton believes he deserves a place in F1, rather than deciding to give up his seat for younger talent, something done by Sebastian Vettel. Subsequently, Hamilton stated his views on remaining in F1 for longer. He said, “I currently feel fit enough and deserving of my position. So I’m gonna continue to go for a bit.” However, the 7-time champion did not specify how long that period will be, leaving fans to some speculation.

Hamilton has always eyed an eighth-world title. Although, Lewis elaborated on this topic and said, “our goal is to win a world championship. It’s like the championship we tryna to win. “ Hence Lewis Hamilton has set his target to win in F1 again like it’s his first-ever championship. He said, “I’m not thinking about eighth. I’m thinking about a world championship like it’s our first.” Hamilton aims to win this title with Toto Wolff’s squad. Lewis stated, “I believe I’ve got the right team in order to do that.”

Thus, Lewis Hamilton is confident about the title prospects at Mercedes. The 38-year-old is hungry as ever to win in F1 again and certainly, 2023 will be a crucial year in this regard. Mercedes fell out of title contention last year after major issues with the car. However, this season things seem to change as the team works around the problems with its latest W14. Although, for now, it is early to tell whether Lewis can achieve his target this season.
