Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner made headlines after claiming that Lewis Hamilton had inquired about joining the Austrian team earlier this year. However, Hamilton has strongly refuted these claims. Now, the seven-time world champion has revealed that Horner was the one who tried to contact him to join Milton Keynes.

Hamilton mentioned that no one from his management team had been in touch with Red Bull. Moreover, the 38-year-old claimed that it was the Austrian team that had attempted to initiate discussions.

I checked with everyone on the team, and no-one has spoken to them, but they have tried to reach out to us.

Recently, Lewis Hamilton switched on his old phone. The seven-time world champion’s previous number received hundreds of old messages since the phone had been switched off. Hamilton reckoned that there was one text from Christian Horner as well. The Red Bull team boss had texted the seven-time world champion for a chat at the end of the season. Although, the 38-year-old did not specify when Horner had texted him.

Lewis Hamilton hits out at Christian Horner for recent round of rumors

The seven-time world champion admitted that he was not surprised to hear Horner’s claims. Lewis Hamilton reckoned that the Red Bull team boss might’ve felt lonely and wanted to receive more attention from the media. Certainly, the 38-year-old was convinced that such speculation would bring the spotlight on Horner.

if you’re a little bit lonely and don’t get paid much attention, that’s what they tend to do, just mention my name.

Lewis Hamilton signed a new contract with Mercedes earlier this year. The 38-year-old is set to race for the Brackley-based team till at least 2025. Subsequently, after Horner’s comments got out, Hamilton talked to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff to clarify that he had never tried to join Milton Keynes.

Certainly, Christian Horner’s words have caused a stir in the F1 paddock. As the season ends at Abu Dhabi GP this weekend, all attention will be drawn towards Hamilton and Horner. Although, it seems that both sides are adamant on being right. As such, fans would have to wait and see how things pan out in the coming days.
