Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton will grace screens in a forthcoming documentary premiering on Apple TV+. The documentary will provide exclusive access to Hamilton on and off the track, delving into his life and career as one of the greatest Formula One drivers in history. Hamilton shares his genuine intentions behind doing this much-anticipated project.
The Mercedes driver is bankrolling the filming of the upcoming documentary announced last year in March. It promises an in-depth exploration of Lewis Hamilton’s extraordinary journey in Formula One. With exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, the film aims to inspire audiences with the tale of his triumphs and challenges.
He was inspired by the recent blockbuster ‘King Richard,’ which was centered on the early lives of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, emphasizing their father, Richard Williams, and his efforts to mold them. Hamilton believes “it’s incredibly inspiring to see what parents can do when they are focused, passionate, and committed to something.” He told RTBF, “If children are raised in the right way and given a path and direction to follow, anything is possible.”
Before entering Formula One, Hamilton faced numerous obstacles. The high racing costs posed a significant challenge, but his father, Anthony Hamilton, worked tirelessly to fund his son’s dream. Borrowing money and working multiple jobs, Anthony’s unwavering support paved the way for Lewis’s journey to the top.

Lewis Hamilton believes that all his records are just the ‘tip of an iceberg’ about him
Amidst the cheers and triumphs, Hamilton’s early years in racing were marred by bigotry. Being the lone black driver in the paddock, he faced discrimination from drivers and fans. His determination and skills led to a test drive opportunity with the McLaren- Mercedes team, which paved the way for his glory in F1. In only his first year, he battled for the title but lost it to Kimi Raikkonen, who edged him out by merely one point.
Hamilton currently holds the record for most wins and pole positions in the history of F1. But he feels that is only “the tip of the iceberg” about him, and the documentary is “going to peel it all away and show them[the audience] what it took to get there.”
The Briton believes that the journey to success is rarely quick and easy. And that in today’s fast-paced world, only instant success is celebrated. However, he humbly states that “it took us a long time.” His documentary seeks to unveil the untold story of perseverance and dedication that lies beneath his incredible achievements.
As the release date of Lewis Hamilton’s documentary draws near, we eagerly await the inspiring narrative that will reveal the true essence of his journey. Beyond the titles and accolades, this film promises to capture the spirit of determination that drove him to the pinnacle of Formula One racing. Hamilton is in a winless drought and is challenging his former teammate, Fernando Alonso, for the third spot in the standings.
