Lewis Hamilton has struggled to pass Red Bull and Ferrari in the 2022 F1 season. New rules have been tough for his team, and as they battle Ferrari for second place in the 2023 Constructors Championship, Hamilton talked about his upcoming biggest achievement in F1.

Hamilton is an absolute legend of the pinnacle of motor racing and is hands down one of the best to step foot into the sport. He has so far amassed seven world championships, but seeing the condition of Mercedes under the new regulations, he feels his greatest triumph will be winning a race again in the sport. It has been some time since the Brit was seen standing on the top step of the podium.

While shedding light on the same ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix weekend, he told Motorsportweek, “We’ll be coming back. We can do it. The next step to the top podium will come. And it will probably be my greatest triumph in my career.” He further stressed what keeps him going despite the disappointments and said, “I try to push myself to the limit in every race and believe in my team.”

“But it’s true: If you don’t feel the balance in the car, your willingness to take risks becomes smaller.” Lewis Hamilton currently holds the record for the most number of wins in F1, but despite this, he is aware of the pickle his team has been in since 2022 and, thus, ardently feels winning a race again would be the greatest triumph of his F1 career.

Lewis Hamilton has shown his faith in Mercedes by signing a contract extension until 2025

While Lewis Hamilton has been without an F1 victory for a long time, he recently signed a 2-year contract extension with the Mercedes F1 team. Hamilton believes that his team can once again return to its pedestal where they were sitting for 7-8 years continuously during the turbo hybrid era. Mercedes has all the resources at its disposal, and it’s just about nailing their package.

While it seems almost impossible for the Toto Wolff-led team to score a win during the 2023 F1 season because of Red Bull’s dominance, 2024 could be the year when Mercedes finally breaks the shackles and turns up with a championship-worthy car. Moreover, recently, it has been heavily discussed in the F1 paddock that the German tea would be a title challenger next year.

If this certainly happens to be the case, then it would definitely put Lewis Hamilton in a strong position to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix once again and also at the same time, help him have a real go at his record-breaking eighth-world championship. 2024 is an immensely important year for Mercedes and Hamilton for several reasons.
