Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, recently made waves in the automotive world with his extravagant acquisition of the brand new Mercedes AMG Project One Hypercars. Surprisingly, he not only purchased one for himself but also gifted another to his father, Anthony Hamilton. Joining him in this exclusive ownership club is his former teammate, Valtteri Bottas, who also invested in the remarkable AMG One, valued at a staggering $2.7 million.
With only 275 units planned for production, each priced at $2.72 million, Lewis Hamilton‘s ownership of two AMG Ones further solidifies his position among the elite. This purchase adds to his already impressive car collection, showcasing his affluent taste. As the most successful driver of the current era, having secured six world titles with the Mercedes team, it comes as no surprise that Hamilton would indulge in such luxury. However, the most intriguing aspect lies in his decision to gift his father a $2.7 million car.
Hamilton’s annual earnings of $57 million from driving for the German team allow him to indulge in such luxurious purchases. Anthony Hamilton, his father, has been a crucial part of his career. He worked 2 different jobs a day so his son could make it into racing. He even served as his son’s manager for a few years.

The Mercedes-AMG ONE delivers an unparalleled driving experience that unleashes breathtaking performance directly onto the road. Inspired by the adrenaline-pumping world of Formula 1, the driver programs, like Strat 2, unlock the full potential of this hypercar. They activate active aerodynamics, optimize the chassis, and let loose the power of all motors, creating a sensation similar to exhilarating qualifying laps on the racetrack.
A new engine sits at the core of this marvel. The Mercedes-AMG ONE creates 1063 horsepower by combining a turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 petrol engine with four electric motors, including units for the turbocharger, crankshaft, and front axle. Its cutting-edge, directly cooled 800-volt battery, developed specifically for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team by High Performance Powertrains, enables nimble and accurate driving on both the track and the road.
The AMG ONE’s chassis and transmission merge power and performance. Carbon monocoque integrates the engine and gearbox, inspired by Formula 1. The 11,000 rpm engine pairs flawlessly with the 7-speed manual gearbox and carbon racing clutch. The multi-link aluminum chassis and push-rod suspension ensure stability, eliminating the need for an anti-roll bar, enhancing control at high speeds.
Despite currently standing fourth in the championship standings and enduring a winless streak of almost two years, Hamilton remains determined to turn the tide. As he returns home for the upcoming British Grand Prix, he hopes to capitalize on the planned upgrades for the race and reignite his winning form.
