The Formula 1 paddock has headed to Japan this weekend for the Japanese GP at the iconic Suzuka Circuit. The race has given the sport some of the most memorable races throughout its history. As such, the Japanese GP is certainly one of the most special weekends of the season. Subsequently, Lewis Hamilton decided to bring a new helmet to Suzuka.
A video surfaced on Twitter showcasing the Mercedes driver unveiling his special helmet for this weekend. The seven-time world champion opted for a complete chrome design that is certainly an eye-catcher. The predominant silver designs have additions of gold including a stripe that runs on top with a gold base as well. However, there is one particular aspect that really pops out.
Lewis Hamilton revealed his new helmet with a unique neon light on the visor. The bright yellow light runs across the visor and gives an interesting futuristic look to the design. However, it is understood that the Mercedes driver will not be racing with the neon light since it would completely blind the seven-time world champion as soon as he wears this lid.
Fans speculate about the neon light on Lewis Hamilton’s helmet
Fans on Twitter were surprised to see Hamilton’s new design. Most users were impressed with the addition of the neon light in the unveiling. One fan wondered if the 38-year-old Mercedes driver would be allowed to race with the light turned on. The fan wrote, “Will the neon bit be on when he actually drives? Will look amazing.”
Another fan asked if the neon light would shoot lasers on Hamilton’s arch-rival, Max Verstappen. Perhaps a rather useful race tactic. The fan replied, “Does the helmet start to laser shoot max ?” Here are some of the reactions to the British driver’s new helmet.

Make it happen, @LewisHamilton!
It seems that fans have loved the idea of a neon light on the driver visor. However, Lewis Hamilton would not be able to race with this addition as his eyes would be looking straight at the emitted light. As such, fans would have to wait for a long time before such a visor could become reality. Till then, they will have to stay content with the chrome on Hamilton’s latest helmet for the upcoming Japanese GP.
