Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have been struggling to give Red Bull a run for their money for the past few years. Ever since the Brit was beaten by Max Verstappen in 2021, he hasn’t been able to secure a race win in what seems like a millennium. On the other hand, George Russell led a Mercedes 1-2 in Brazil last year. That was the last time a team other than Red Bull had won a race.
Ever since then, it has been. struggle for the whole grid to catch up with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Following the Singapore GP qualifying, there is a real possibility that a non Red Bull car could win. George Russell has qualified P2 and will be starting on the front row of the grid which has led to Lewis Hamilton showcasing his support for his Mercedes teammate.
“[I’m] really happy for George, he did a mega job,” Hamilton told media including RacingNews365. “He’s just been really connected with the car all weekend. It started good for us today and [then] it was not so good,” he said. “I think George has a really good shot at winning. I really hope that he does, I hope he gets a good start and gets ahead of the Ferraris. That would be amazing for the team and for him,” he continued.

Red Bull have been phenomenal when it comes to their car’s performance this year. With maximum reliability, they have been able to extract every inch of performance that has helped Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez win every race this season. Verstappen broke the consecutive win record held by Sebastian Vettel in Monza as he won his 10th race in a row.
Lewis Hamilton will start the race in fifth place. It had also been observed that Red Bull was the fastest team when it came to long runs. Apparently, qualifying was never going to be their advantage, as the main focus will be on their race pace. It will be interesting to see where Verstappen and Sergio finish. There is a possibility that Red Bull could win the constructors championship at Marina Bay, but their results on Saturday have greatly reduced the chances of that happening.
