Lewis Hamilton will be racing for Ferrari in 2025. The 39-year-old decided to make a shocking move to Maranello after the 2024 season. It is no surprise that the seven-time world champion is one of the highest-paid F1 drivers. Subsequently, the Scuderia needed to give Hamilton a lucrative contract. Now details have emerged about the enormous value of this deal.
As per reports, Lewis Hamilton was initially offered $100 million for two seasons. However, the Briton declined Ferrari President John Elkann‘s offer as he needed assurance over the future of his foundation, Mission 44. Mission 44 aims to provide opportunities to underserved communities with Hamilton having invested tens of millions so far.
The Scuderia bumped up the offer significantly. Lewis Hamilton is expected to receive $87 million in salary for the 2025 season with an option to continue in 2026. Moreover, around $21 million will be issued in bonuses for Hamiton’s initiatives.
Moreover, John Elkann has plans to create a joint investment fund worth $270 million via the Exor family business. This massive sum would be used to invest in Hamilton’s projects and solidify the seven-time world champion into the ambassador of his initiatives. As such, these figures bring the value of Hamilton’s Ferrari deal to a whopping $430 million.
It must be noted that Ferrari had a massive increase in its stock price after news of Lewis Hamilton’s move came to light. The Italian carmaker’s value increased by a staggering $7 billion.
Lewis Hamilton is ready to embark on a new journey with Ferrari
Hamilton has spent his entire F1 career with just two teams, McLaren and Mercedes. The 39-year-old was supported by the Silver Arrows for the majority of his career. However, the seven-time world champion was growing frustrated with the team’s struggles in the past two seasons.
Lewis Hamilton remains as hungry as ever to win a record-breaking eighth F1 world championship. However, the Briton seems to be unconvinced by Mercedes’ progress over the winter. This could’ve forced Hamilton to leave for Ferrari after the 2024 season.
Ferrari serves as the perfect opportunity for Lewis Hamilton. The 39-year-old had always wanted to race in red but talks never materialized. However, the Scuderia might be the best option for the seven-time world champion to fight for the title in 2025. As such, fans would be looking forward to seeing how things pan out for this legendary pairing next year.
