It was special for several reasons and it could not have gone any better for AlphaTauri’s stand-in driver, Liam Lawson. Daniel Riccardo was on the AlphTauri pit wall during the event and Lawson has admitted that his presence had a great impact on him.

Liam Lawson is a major contender for the 2024 AlphaTauri seat

While Liam Lawson has left no stone unturned while emphasizing the significance of Daniel Ricciardo, the former is in serious contention of securing the AlphaTauri seat for the 2024 F1 season. As things stand, it is being looked at as a three-way battle for the two available seats on the Faenza-based team.

Other than Ricciardo and Lawson, the third contender is Yuki Tsunoda who has been with AlphaTauri the longest among the three. All these guys are exceptional drivers and the 21-year-old while talking about his 2024 chances said, “I don’t know, honestly. For me, it’s not what I’m focused on. I’m focused on maximizing every session this season that I have. Then I’ll look back and think I’ve done everything I can.”

The 2023 Formula 1 season has only seven races remaining on the calendar and Liam Lawson is fully determined to get a seat at AlphaTauri for next year. However, despite his strong outings, it is a common belief that he might be the one who is left out for 2024 to make space for experienced drivers like Ricciardo and Tsunoda.
