Logan Sargeant made his Formula 1 debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix. It was a good start for the rookie. He looks back at his first Formula 1 experience and is quite pleased with himself. Williams Racing is impressed with the American. On Saturday, during the qualifying, Sargeant pushed his FW45 and tried to get into Q2.

The rookie clocked at the same time as Lando Norris from McLaren. However, Norris qualified in 11th place, and Sargeant qualified in 16th place. Moving to the race day, Sargeant finished 12th, just two places short of points. Nevertheless, it was a strong race for the Americans. The other rookies, Nyck De Vries and Oscar Piastri, finished behind him in 14th and 20th place, respectively. Sargeant also finished ahead of Lando Norris in spite of starting the race behind him.

Looking back on his weekend, Sargeant stated, “I feel like I didn’t quite have the right approach going into qualifying. Our car was good enough to make Q2. At the time, I didn’t know that was the case, so I went in a little bit more aggressively than I should have.” He felt that he pushed the car a bit too much on the first lap.

“It didn’t give me as good a reference for the second lap when I really needed to do it. That’s a mental approach I need to shift a little bit. At least it gives me something to reflect on heading into the next races”. However, Sargeant is thrilled that he clocked at the same time ( 0.000) as someone else on his F1 debut. He stated that he was happy with his first qualifying performance but a little disappointed that he did not make it to Q2.

Sargeant had a smooth race on his debut. In his words, “To have a smooth race, from the pit stops to the Virtual Safety Car, and finish 12th gives me a good baseline to work with.” He loved every second of his first race weekend. While the American is thrilled about driving in Formula 1, he knows he has work to do and prove himself.

After Bahrain Grand Prix, Sargeant took off to recover. He will now arrive in Jeddah for the second race of the season. The American rookie posted on his social media that he was proud of his whole team. He is busy preparing for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and hopes to score points.
