Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has been regularly making headlines as of late due to his speculated move to Ferrari. The blockbuster deal is worth 40 Million Pounds, an enticing offer for Hamilton, who will be out of contract with his current team Mercedes in 2024. Red Bull consultant and advisor Helmut Marko has had his say on the alleged offer.

Speaking to  F1-Insider.com, the Austrian said, “There are two things that really annoy Hamilton. Firstly, that he is no longer world champion and will find it difficult to become one again in the future. He knows there is no place for him at Red Bull. And whether Ferrari will be better for him in terms of sport than Mercedes is not set in stone.”

In addition to this, the new deal could see Hamilton equal Red Bull’s prodigious Max Verstappen as the highest-paid driver on the grid. On this aspect, Marko said, “In addition to the sporting perspective, Lewis is anything but happy that he is no longer the highest-earning driver in Formula 1. This is Max Verstappen now. At least that he could change with Ferrari’s help.”

Helmut Marko believes that Hamilton is in awe of Verstappen, as he possesses not one, but two titles that the Englishman laid claim to for a long time, namely being world champion in addition to having the biggest contract. Nonetheless, the deal seems unlikely, with Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff refuting claims of a possible departure.

The veteran’s career is one littered with success and triumph. Ever since his debut, he has been a frontrunner on track, fighting for wins. His stint with Mercedes since he joined the German outfit in 2013 is legendary, having secured six world championships, becoming the driver with the most wins, pole positions, and podiums. He has cemented himself as one of the greatest ever to take the wheel of an F1 car.

However, change is inevitable, and even Hamilton is not immune to it. Since introducing new technical directives in 2022, he and his team have encountered challenges and found it difficult to keep up with the performance of Max Verstappen and Red Bull. Hamilton’s crown was taken from him by the Dutchman in 2021, and ever since, he hasn’t looked back.

Max Verstappen has been untouchable; he is ruthless on track and possesses overwhelming ability. He lives up to his title of the Dutch Lion, hunting down his rivals as prey, and emerging victorious regardless of the circumstances. The recent Miami GP is a testament to that, where he cut through the grid from P9 to win the race, dominantly.

He is currently en route to securing his third world title on the trot, and his domination is already awe-inspiring. He is breaking records already at the young age of 25, and will undoubtedly establish himself as one of the greatest motorsport has ever witnessed by the time he retires.
