Lewis Hamilton produced an impressive race at the US GP, as he almost won the race against Max Verstappen. He finished the race at P2. But the joy was short-lived as he was disqualified along with Charles Leclerc for breaching regulations. Only four cars were tested, and two out of four were found to be illegal. No cars were checked after as per FIA procedure even though 50% of cars tested were disqualified.
Hamilton was not a fan of this procedure and said that multiple non-tested cars also had the same issue, and they were not met with the same punishment. Now SkyF1’s Martin Brundle has come forth, contering with Hamilton. He highlighted FIA’s role in overseeing F1’s technical aspects and mentioned that the organization had valid reasons for setting specific regulations. Brundle believes the regulation body did the right thing with the post-race inspection.
I would also like to say that the FIA do a tremendous job of policing the technical aspects of F1 and there are reasons, we understand, why they chose those cars anyway because of data they had seen.
Martin Brundle said, as reported by racingnews365.com
Brundle raised concerns about the enforcement of these regulations. Teams can remove and impound car parts for measurement. Brundle questioned whether other cars on the grid were operating within legal bounds. He said that teams denied any irregularities in their cars, though one team gave a vague response that they “weren’t sure.”
Brundle was dubious of this, saying every car parameter is checked extensively post-race, so such uncertainties do not occur. He also pointed out that the FIA strives to ensure fair and unbiased enforcement of regulations. The ex-F1 driver believes that FIA could not provide concessions for punishing these regulations, even if the offense is as slight as wings being a millimeter too wide or the car being a kilo overweight.
Lewis Hamilton is facing potential action for promoting his new tequila
Lewis Hamilton recently promoted his new tequila line named Almave, which is available online in two variants. However, his promotion of this $39 drink may land him in trouble. The FIA has a clause (12.3) in their International Sporting Code that forbids the promotion of any product not approved by the FIA.
As the tequila is not an FIA-approved product, Hamilton could face some punishment from the FIA. This comes only days after he was disqualified from the United States Grand Prix. It remains unclear whether Hamilton got permission from the FIA to promote his tequila.
Hamilton has multiple major investments other than Almave, such as the vegan burger joint ‘Neat Burger’ that is co-run by Hamilton and actor Leonardo Di Capri, and a minority stake in the NFL team Denver Broncos.
