As most of the teams have come out with a host of upgrades for the twelfth round of this year’s Formula 1 Championship, the free practice sessions ahead of the French Grand Prix at the Circuit Paul Ricard bore some special importance. During these crucial FP sessions, the teams sent out their drivers with the upgraded cars so that they could record their own performance and compare it with that of their rival teams’ in order to get knowledge of where they stand in terms of car performance and race pace.
As we are halfway into the F1 2022 season, we have an idea of the two most prominent teams of this season–Red Bull and Scuderia Ferrari. And both of these teams have brought about a host of changes in their car in order to stay at par with the new developments in F1. Seeing the performance that the two Ferrari F1-75’s displayed on the racetrack at the Circuit Paul Ricard on Friday, Mattia Binotto is hopeful of the fact that Ferrari might be getting their hat-trick in the French Grand Prix. In the previous two races in Britain and in Austria, Ferrari had the upper hand over Red Bull as Sainz won the race in Silverstone and Leclerc got the victory in Spielberg. And now, the fight for the pole position is presumably going to be a tight one, as far as Mattia Binotto’s opinions are concerned.
Speaking of his predictions for the much-awaited Qualifying Session ahead of the French Grand Prix 2022, Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto said, “Halfway through the season, we are keeping up with the developments, and it’s good to see that the car is still performing. It’s good to keep the pressure. Max was very fast yesterday on the long runs, and we need to prepare well. It will be close today.”
He also said, “Red Bull has a new wing and more speed. It will be different between us, but let’s see who has taken the right compromise.”
