When a Champion’s back is against the wall, they rise to the occasion, and it is certainly what Max Verstappen did in Hungary. The Dutchman despite starting from P10 was able to make a huge comeback and was ultimately able to win the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Moreover, Max Verstappen for his out-of-the-ordinary showing was also elected as the ‘Driver of the Day’ by the fans who tuned in from all over the world.
The 24-year-old started the Grand Prix from P10 and ahead of the race, the lights of Helmut Marko and Christian Horner were not looking too optimistic about getting a decent result, however, against all odds the Dutchman was able to deliver a mega drive for the team that saw him standing on the top podium at the end of the race.
What makes Verstappen’s outing even more special is the fact that he had a 360-degree spin during the race but was still able to hold off the rest of the competition.

Max Verstappen has extended his lead over Charles Leclerc in the Drivers Championship
Max Verstappen after 13 rounds of the 2022 F1 Championship has managed to win 8 races and following his stupendous outing in Hungary, has further extended his lead in the Drivers Championship.
The 24-year-old has now got 258 points to his name whereas Leclerc who came sixth, has got 178 points on the board. The deficit is getting bigger and bigger with each passing race and with the way Verstappen is going this season, it won’t come as a huge surprise if he is able to wrap up the Championship before the F1 carnival reaches Abu Dhabi.
Red Bull has developed a lethal package this season that after having a few hiccups at the start has now started performing consistently and is giving Max Verstappen what he wants out of the car.
Moreover, the Ferrari team is turning out to be its own worst enemy this season and all its shenanigans are playing into the hands of the 2021 World Champion.
Hungary was the last race before the start of the month-long summer break and one thing that can be said for certain is the fact that Max Verstappen and Red Bull are heading into it with their heads held high and it will be fascinating to see if they will be able to pick up from where they left when the season gets back underway on the 26th of August.
