He was determined to redeem himself coming to the Japanese GP and has taken the first step by securing the pole position. However, despite a rampant performance, Verstappen is dissatisfied over the lap-time.

Max Verstappen opened up about his feelings after scoring the pole position. Verstappen lamented that the lap could’ve been a better lap in various session of Suzuka. He also added that he is happy to see teammate, Sergio Perez qualifying just behind him in P2, securing another front row finish. Not bad, not bad. It could have been a better lap, but it doesn't matter it's still P1. A good 1-2 as well, so that's good
Max Verstappen said.

Max Verstappen missed out on crucial points at the Australian GP due to retiring after sustaining braking issues. The Dutchman has been performing at his A-game so far this weekend and will likely eliminate any competition early-on in the race.

Max Verstappen is ready to ‘forgive and forget’ tensions with Mercedes

Max Verstappen moving to Mercedes was one of the greatest rumors flourishing during Lewis Hamilton‘s bombshell move to Ferrari. However, the Red Bull star has reassured time and again about his loyalty towards Milton Keynes. Hence, Verstappen declared that he understood why Mercedes wanted him in the car. Additionally, the 26-year-old pointed out how there were tensions between the two during the controversial title battle of 2021.

They [Mercedes] want me in that car, I understand that. Look: a few years ago there was of course a little more tension between us and Mercedes.
Max Verstappen said, as reported by De Limburger.

However, everything from the past can be ‘forgiven and forgotten’ according to the reigning world champion. Anyhow, this didn’t mean that Verstappen would look into his options of driving for the German manufacturer in F1.

But that can all be forgiven and forgotten. That's true on both sides. But that doesn't mean I think I should be driving somewhere else right now.
Max Verstappen noted.

Max Verstappen will stay at Red Bull and potentially continue to shatter multiple records at least till 2028, when his contract ends. The 2024 season is off to a rampant start for the Dutchman, except the disappointment in Albert Park. Hence, the team aims to score yet another dominant victory at the Japanese GP to widen the lead from the rival teams.
