Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton shared an epic Championship battle in the 2021 season, when they went head to head at almost every race on the calendar. The season, however, ended on a controversial note as the Championship was ultimately decided over a safety car and a dubious ‘race control’ call. The Dutchman and the Briton have not been known to be amicable towards each other ever since that fated Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In fact, many fans have claimed that the two are the most formidable ‘rivals’ on-track.
Red Bull’s Team Principal Christian Horner recently surprised the entire paddock when he revealed Lewis Hamilton’s had expressed his wishes to Red Bull to him. Horner commented on how Hamilton’s management contacted the Milton-Keynes-based outfit before extending the Briton’s contract with the Silver Arrows. Many F1 followers guessed Red Bull’s 3-time World Championship-winning driver Max Verstappen would probably not prefer teaming up with Hamilton himself give their history.

The fact that Max and Lewis’ rivalry is still fresh enough as the F1 squad is currently gearing up to return to Abu Dhabi where the Dutch lion defeated the seven-time World Champion to win his first F1 title. Thus, the possibility of Lewis joining Max at his own team has given rise to widespread thrill and anticipation amongst the fans. However, the actual chances of seeing the two race against each other with the same car seem extremely dim.
Lewis Hamilton completed the most overtakes at the Las Vegas Grand Prix according to new data
The Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend stood out as a highly anticipated event in recent Formula 1 history, earning the title of the highlight of the 2023 F1 calendar. The anticipation was notably high, especially with Lewis Hamilton. This is because the seven-time World Champion being the most popular Formula 1 figure in the United States.
Hamilton, however, faced challenges with a noticeable lack of pace, securing eighth place as his best finish in the practice sessions over the opening two days. As Saturday’s night qualifying session approached, Hamilton’s struggles persisted, resulting in a modest P10 finish. Nevertheless, the Briton showcased his brilliance during the titular Grand Prix, emerging as the driver with the ‘most overtakes completed’ according to race data.
The data, [as reported by ESPN], highlighted Hamilton’s reminiscent performance, completing a total of 15 overtakes – the highest among all drivers on that day. Notably, he executed 4 overtakes on AlphaTauri, another 4 on Haas, and 3 on Williams. In addition, Hamilton successfully maneuvered past 1 Alfa Romeo, 1 Alpine, 1 McLaren, and 1 Aston Martin, showcasing his skillful overtaking across a diverse field of drivers and teams.
