The Sprint Shootout of the Austrian GP has come to an end just a while ago, and while the session did not see any on-track crashes, it did see some shenanigans taking place between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The two had their tussles during the SQ1 session, and that has caught the eye of the fans.
During the initial stages of the SQ1 session, Lewis Hamilton was on a fast lap and was somewhat blocked by a fast-charging Max Verstappen. Going into Turn 1, the Dutchman overtook the former 7-time Formula 1 World Champion and did not give him enough space to overtake on the straights.
While the fans were busy making their assumptions regarding the incident, the two were involved in another incident, and this time, the 38-year-old was seen supposedly blocking Max Verstappen. A lot has been said about both incidents by the fans, and they have come up with extremely strong reactions.

Looking at the fans’ reactions, it is clear that the fans have their unique perspectives on both incidents. Moreover, most of the fans believe that Lewis Hamilton did not impede the 25-year-old but rather gave him a tow on the straights to go even faster. Moreover, some set of fans have blasted Verstappen for his actions.
Max Verstappen is on pole for the upcoming Sprint race
While people have made their feelings known regarding Max Verstappen’s and Lewis Hamilton’s SQ1 incident, the latter has again topped the timing charts and will start the upcoming Sprint race from the pole position. Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, will start from the south end of the grid.
Max Verstappen secured the pole position for tomorrow’s Austrian Grand Prix on Friday, and with today’s pole in the Sprint qualifying, he has got a golden chance of scoring a lot of points for himself and his team. He is already leading the Championship and could further increase the gap between himself and the chasing pack just after the end of the Sprint race.
Taking everything that has happened so far into account, Max Verstappen is looking like the favorite to win the upcoming Sprint race at the Red Bull ring. The race will be a 24-lap event, and it will be fascinating to see how the reigning World Champion would perform during the exciting event.
