Max Verstappen has been an integral part of the Red Bull family for nearly a decade. The 25-year-old got promoted to the Milton Keynes-based team in 2016 and has performed exceptionally since. The Dutchman has won two back-to-back world titles and is set for another potential title win this season. Verstappen reveals his plan for his future after his contract with the Austrian team runs out in 2028.
The reigning world champion made it clear that he would only continue with Red Bull if Milton Keynes remained competitive by that point. Although Verstappen admitted that it would not be easy to leave a team, he has built a great relationship with, including team boss Christian Horner. The 25-year-old reckoned that he had no dream team in Formula 1, but Scuderia Ferrari remains an attractive option.
Though the charm of Maranello is not enough to lure in the Dutch driver, the 25-year-old affirmed that he would be ready to leave for a team where he gets the ideal car. Max Verstappen stated, “I know Ferrari has an amazing history in Formula 1 and is an amazing team to race for, but I always said to myself I just want to be in the fastest car”.

The Dutchman is not fond of the immense workload of F1 drivers. Verstappen made it clear that after his current contract expires in 2028, he will understand if he still has the motivation to stay in the sport. The reigning world champion would be 31 after making his F1 debut at just 17. Max believed he might feel burned out after a certain point.
The 25-year-old would still want to continue racing. Verstappen mentioned his liking for Endurance racing, especially the Le Mans 24 Hours and even GT racing. The Dutch driver wanted to partake in these events before he lost his physical prime. The Red Bull driver said, “All these kinds of things I want to experience in my life…When I’m 31, I’m pretty sure I’m still capable of doing great things”.
Thus, Max Verstappen has made his intentions clear. The 25-year-old will not continue with Red Bull if the team fails to give him a good car in the future. The reigning world champion will not be shy of switching to Ferrari if Maranello gives him more competitive machinery after 2028. This could potentially be a major blow to Milton Keynes.
