Lewis Hamilton, the former seven-time world champion, has become the talk of the town ahead of the upcoming 2024 F1 season. His 2025 Ferrari move is being seen as one of the biggest off-track news in the history of the sport and while the dust around it was just beginning to settle, the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen has taken the time to give his take on it.
Max Verstappen suspects a potential leak is the reason why such big news was announced so early this year. He believes that the announcement of such stature usually comes to light during the latter half of the year.
While explaining the reasoning behind his decision-making, he said, as reported by Silverarrows.net:
Seeing him go to Ferrari . . . it’s not a surprise. If that’s your goal as a kid, or your dream, then you go, right? I think it must have been leaked because to announce something that big that early in the season… I think for sure, for the rest of the year, I would say it’s a little bit awkward.
Looking at the reaction of the 26-year-old, it is quite clear that he is immensely surprised by the timing of Hamilton’s Ferrari announcement. Moreover, has suspected a potential leak as one of the main reasons why the move was announced in January.
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen haven’t been seen tussling much in F1 since 2021
While Max Verstappen has suspected a potential leak as the reason behind Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari announcing the 2025 partnership in January, the two prolific drivers have not been seen fighting each other on track since the end of the 2021 season. No one can forget how heated the 2021 season got at times because of their fierce rivalry.

Mercedes has struggled to produce potent cars under the current regulations, whereas Red Bull has gone from strength to strength. Moreover, this is one of the main reasons why Hamilton has decided to part ways with Mercedes at the end of this year.

There is a growing belief in the paddock that Lewis Hamilton firmly believes he can fight for the world championship with the Ferrari F1 team. However, there are huge question marks around it as the Maranello-based team last lifted the coveted Driver’s World Championship back in 2007, when Finnish maestro, Kimi Raikkonen was driving for them.
