Red Bull launched their 2024 challenger last week with their driver lineup at Milton Keynes. Their star driver, Max Verstappen, had a taste of the new RB20 in a shakedown test at Silverstone and has warned his competitors of a repeat of the previous year.
The reigning champions had conducted a filming day in Silverstone before the official launch. The Dutchman was seen behind the wheel of his new car, but the shakedown was interrupted by the British weather, and he couldn’t test the car’s limits. The 26-year-old had issued a warning to his rivals before the onset of the pre-season testing in Bahrain.
Unfortunately, it was a bit of a rainy day, but I think the first feelings are good. I felt comfortable. That's the most important. Now I'm just looking forward to driving in Bahrain and to start to understand the car a bit more.Max Verstappen said as reported by gpblog.com.
Verstappen explained that the feeling was good and comfortable regarding the car’s characteristics. The three-time champion was into the groove with the car and is eager to test the car in all its glory in Bahrain. Red Bull’s rivals such as Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren would take Verstappen’s easiness in the car as a threat and would be weary of the flying Dutchman.
David Coulthard spoke on Max Verstappen’s dominance
The 26-year-old just enters his ninth season in F1, and has claimed three world titles already. In the past two years, Verstappen has won an astounding 34 races in 44 race starts, his last year being an annihilation for the entire grid. Red Bull’s ambassador, David Coulthard, had given his views on the same.
Flawless at the moment, very few mistakes. I think we're witnessing the sort of moments that we saw during Senna's time or Schumacher's time or Lewis's dominance. He's making the most of the opportunity.David Coulthard on the F1 nation podcast (H&T:Gpblog.com)
The Scottish former driver in a podcast had compared the Dutchman’s dominance to that of Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. The former racing driver had witnesssed the dominance of these drivers in their respective eras, and claimed that Verstappen’s dominance is similar to that of them.
The Dutchman now prepares for the upcoming season. The reigning champion is the title favourite and would be wanting to match Sebastian Vettel’s record of four consecutive titles with the team. Following, Verstappen would be on the hunt for the record and providing us with another season of dominance across all aspects.
