Dutchman Max Verstappen continues to hit remarkable milestones in his career apart from his Formula 1 career. The 26-year-old has been once again nominated for the Laureus Sportsmen of the Year 2024 award for his remarkable career in motorsports. The Dutchman single-handedly carried out one of the most dominant performances ever in the history of Formula 1 in 2023 and shattered multiple records.

Verstappen received nominations for the same award in the previous two years. The Formula 1 prodigy won the 2022 edition of the Laureus Awards previously and has been once again included as a nominee. The reigning world champion became the fourth driver in the sport to win the award alongside the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, and the legendary Michael Schumacher winning the award in the past.

Hence, nominating for the award, let alone winning is a great achievement for any Formula 1 driver. Verstappen was also nominated for the awards in 2023 but lost out to the Football Legend Lionel Messi. The Inter Miami star’s remarkable performance in football has earned him a nomination for the 2024 edition of the awards. Hence, the highly dominant performance from the driver in the 2023 season has helped him achieve an honorable spot as a nominee for the awards in the coming season. Notably, the Laureus Award is the ‘Grammy’ equivalent for sporting events, hence it is a big deal for the driver.

Red Bull nominated for the Laureus Award alongside Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen’s dominant 2-23 performance was all thanks to the rocketship of a challenger built by Red Bull. Milton Keynes was so dominant that the team won 21 out of the 22 races down the season and just missed the chance at a perfect season. Hence, seeing Red Bull nominate for the Laureus Award alongside the reigning world champion was no surprise for the fans.

The winners of the Laureus Awards will be revealed on 22nd April in Madrid, Spain. Hence, Verstappen would have to outshine the likes of Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi, Novak Djokovic, and other excellent sportspersons to win the award once again. Additionally, Red Bull is up against the European golf team, the German basketball team, Manchester City, and other great teams in their respective sports.

Hence, Verstappen continues to drive well in the sport as the Dutchman topped the testing session in Bahrain. The reigning world champion displayed great pace during the testing and would likely showcase a repeat of his 2023 performances. Red Bull has once again excelled at creating a challenger capable of fighting for the world championship in the pinnacle of motorsport.
